At Boys & Girls Clubs of Frederick County, we believe every child deserves a safe place to learn, grow, and build a brighter future. Through high-quality programs, mentorship, and engaging activities, we provide a supportive environment where youth can explore their interests, develop leadership skills, and form meaningful connections.
Our programs are geared towards three Priority Outcomes we hope to accomplish for our youth:
Academic Success
Providing tutoring, homework help, STEM education, and college and career readiness programs to ensure every child is equipped with the tools to excel in school and beyond.
Good Character & Citizenship
Encouraging personal responsibility, service to the community, and strong decision-making skills through mentorship and leadership opportunities.
Healthy Lifestyles
Promoting physical activity, emotional well-being, and smart nutritional choices to help youth develop lifelong habits that support overall health and success.
By fostering a sense of belonging, confidence, and purpose, we empower the next generation to become the leaders and change makers of tomorrow.

Our History
Boys & Girls Clubs of America has its beginnings in 1860 with three women in Hartford, Connecticut – Mary Goodwin, Alice Goodwin, and Elizabeth Hammersley. Believing that boys who roamed the streets should have a positive alternative, they organized the first Club. With character development as the cornerstone of the experience, the Club focused on capturing boys’ and girls’ interests, improving their behavior, and increasing their personal goals and expectations. Now, more than 100 years later, kids are still the #1 priority. Boys & Girls Clubs provide a safe haven for more than 4 million youth, giving them an opportunity to discover their great futures.
Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County opened its first Club in partnership with the City of Frederick’s Housing Authority at Sagner’s Village Public Housing Community in 2002 under the oversight of Boys & Girls Club of Washington County. This Club offered after-school programs for low-income children and a nominal cost which would be waived if the family had financial challenges. In 2010, Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County officially became a chartered organization with Boys & Girls Club of America and a separate entity of Boys & Girls Club of Washington County.
Currently, we have 2 Clubs in Frederick County – Madison Street for elementary school-aged kids and Burck Street for middle school-aged kids. We are always growing and improving thanks to the generous support of the individuals in our community!
