Battle of the Bands
Battle of the Bands (BOTB) is the signature fundraising event for Boys & Girls Clubs of Frederick County, bringing the community together for an exciting evening of live music, food, and entertainment—all in support of local youth programs. This concert-style competition highlights the incredible musical talent in our region while raising essential funds to provide mentorship, academic support, and leadership development opportunities for the young people we serve.
Six bands will battle it out on stage, each bringing their own unique sound and energy in hopes of winning the grand prize—a prize package valued at over $5,000, including a recording session from Frederick Recording Studio. Audience members will have the chance to experience an unforgettable night of live performances and even vote for their favorite band.
BOTB is more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of music, creativity, and the power of community. Alongside the live performances, attendees can enjoy food from local vendors, wine and beer from Hidden Hills Vineyard and Rockwell Brewery, games, activities, and much more.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Frederick County is proud to host this event, with all proceeds directly benefiting programs that provide safe spaces, mentorship, and opportunities for the youth of Frederick County. By supporting BOTB, you are helping ensure that every child has the resources they need to succeed.

The African Americans of Excellence in Frederick, MD, celebrates the rich contributions of African Americans through local art and student works. The mission of AAOE is to inspire, educate, and promote community healing by fostering dialogue, understanding, and unity while honoring cultural achievements.
The AAOE Awards celebrate the achievements, leadership, and impact of African Americans in Frederick County. This inspiring event honors individuals and organizations that make a difference in our community while uplifting future generations through education, mentorship, and the arts.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Frederick County is honored to play a key role in this event as both a beneficiary and a trusted youth organization committed to supporting young talent. Each year, we help identify student artists from the Frederick community through our strong network and connections. These talented students work alongside renowned artist Yemi to create stunning portraits of the honorees.
Our Club also provides a dedicated space where these students can collaborate, learn, and bring their artistic visions to life under Yemi’s guidance. This opportunity not only showcases their artistic abilities but also fosters confidence, mentorship, and a deeper connection to their community’s history and achievements.

Badges for baseball
Badges for Baseball is an annual event that brings together local youth and law enforcement officers for a day of baseball, mentorship, and community engagement. Developed by the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, this program is designed to promote positive interactions between young people and law enforcement while teaching valuable life skills through the game of baseball. Boys & Girls Clubs of Frederick County (BGCFC) is proud to host this event, offering a fun and meaningful experience for participants.
This year’s event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16th from 10am-3pm and is being hosted by the Frederick Keys at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium!
During the event, youth engage in a skills clinic, where they learn the fundamentals of baseball from local police officers, sheriff’s deputies, and community mentors. Through teamwork, sportsmanship, and shared experiences on the field, participants and officers build trust, strengthen relationships, and create lasting connections beyond the game.
Beyond baseball, the program incorporates life lessons on leadership, responsibility, and making positive choices, helping young people develop important skills that extend far beyond the ballpark. Officers serve as mentors and role models, demonstrating that law enforcement is not just about enforcing rules—it’s about supporting and guiding youth toward success.
